Neil Roets, CEO of Debt Rescue, welcomed the withdrawal of the VAT hike, calling it “important and well timed aid” for financially strained South Africans. He stated the VAT improve would have pushed many households to breaking level. Roets added that the revised Funds has strengthened SARS’s capacity to shut the tax hole and enhance compliance by focusing on corporates, high-net-worth people, and others with discrepancies between declared revenue and monetary exercise.
