Rescue’s January Survey: The State of South Africans’ Finances

86% van Suid-Afrikaners sny kos om elektrisiteit te kan bekostig

In ʼn onlangse episode van Impak met Esté Gross op Pretoria FM, het Annaline van der Poel, Bedryfshoof van Debt Rescue, ernstige kommer uitgespreek oor die finansiële druk op Suid-Afrikaanse huishoudings.

Volgens ʼn meningsopname wat Debt Rescue voor en ná die 12.7%-verhoging in Eskom-tariewe gedoen het, het 86% van respondente aangedui dat hulle minder kos en kruideniersware aankoop. Baie van hulle het ook hul vervoerkoste start verminder om hul elektrisiteitsrekeninge te kan bekostig. Dit blyk dat baie huishoudings reeds finansieel gesukkel het nog voordat die verhoging in werking getree het.

Van der Poel het verduidelik dat hoewel inflasie dalk op papier afneem, voedsel- en brandstofkoste steeds aanhou styg. Mense kry nie noemenswaardige salarisverhogings nie, en steeds meer verbruikers phrase gedwing om kos op krediet aan te koop, wat hulle in ʼn skuldspiraal plaas.

Sy herinner luisteraars daaraan dat die Nasionale Kredietwet voorsiening maak vir skuldberading, ʼn wettige oplossing wat verbruikers assist om hul skuld op ʼn bekostigbare manier af te betaal, terwyl noodsaaklike lewenskoste gedek phrase. 

Sy moedig enigiemand wat nie meer hul skuld kan hanteer nie aan om met ʼn geregistreerde skuldberader kontak te maak vir ʼn free of charge en vertroulike assessering.
